Q: What documents do I need to cruise?
A: U.S citizens must present proof of citizenship in the form of a passport or copy of state-issued birth certificate with driver's license. Passports are strongly recommended.
Q: How do I get between the airport and ship?
A: Transfers can be purchased through the cruise line or you may purchase your own transfers (ie: taxi, limo, etc)
Q: How is the seating arranged in the dining room? Can I request to sit with friends/family?
A: Dining preferences may be requested at time of booking (main or late dining). Your table/dining room will be assigned upon embarkation. Dining times and with specific people are subject to availability.
Q: Is there a dress code in the dining room?
A: Depending on the length of your cruise, will dictate how many formal nights and casual nights there are. Each ship offers a variety of casual dining options. Typically on a 7-night cruise there are two formal nights, two smart casual nights, and three casual nights. Ask when booking and a consultant will advise of specifics.
Q: How do I pay for items onboard the ship?
A: While onboard all services are cashless. For your convenience, charges for your onboard purchases are charged to your Sail-in-Sign account. A required application is available prior to boarding.
Q: What onboard activities are there to do?
A: Each day there are ship flyers available that list all the activities while onboard (Carnival Capers or Royal Caribbean Compass). Most ships feature
spa and fitness facilities along with other recreational activities.
Q: What activities are there onboard for children/teens? Is there baby-sitting services?
A: Each ship offers special activities/meals for children based on age. Carnival offers Camp Carnival (age 2-17) and Royal Caribbean offers Adventure Ocean (age 3-17) . These camps are free during normal hours (times vary on each ship). Baby-sitting services are available for a fee.
Q: What beverages are complimentary?
A: Freshly brewed coffees, assorted teas, iced tea, and lemonade in the dining room. Soda and alcoholic beverages are available for a fee.
Q: What about tipping/gratuities?
A: Many ships are automatically adding the gratuities for your dining and stateroom services to your onboard Sail-n-sign charge account. You have complete discretion to adjust these gratuities while onboard based upon the level of service you receive during the cruise.
Q: What about exchanging money? Are there ATMs onboard the ship?
A: Most itineraries you will not need to exchange money. Credit cards are widely accepted. Some ships offer ATMs however they are available while in port. Check with your bank to see what fees are accessed when traveling internationally
Q: Will I be able to have internet access?
A: Most ships provide cafés or internet lounges. Some ships offer service in your cabin. Fees apply for these services.
Q: How will I call my family/friends while cruising? Can my family/friends reach me if there is an emergency?
A: International calling cards are recommended. While onboard you may call or be reached, however this is quite expensive. So use for emergencies only.
Q: What about motion sickness? What if I need medical attention?
A: If you're concerned with motion sickness, consult your doctor prior to cruising. There are a variety of options available to assist in making your cruise comfortable. The infirmary staff is available to assist you 24 hours a day in the event you need medical assistance.
Q: How do I purchase shore excursions?
A: Shore excursions can be pre-booked. There are a variety of options available. Ask and a consultant will advise.
Q: While in port, am I able to get on/off the ship freely?
A: Yes, as long as you provide proper id. You may get on/off the ship as needed while it's in port.
Q: Are there hair dryers and iron/ironing boards in each cabin?
A: Most ships have hair dryers in each cabin. Laundry services are available for a fee.
